Ice bath water testing: what to test, how often, and what to record

Test sanitiser level and pH at least before opening and at close every trading day, more often under heavy bather load, plus temperature at every test. Record the actual values, the time and the tester, not just "OK". When a reading is out of the range in your written scheme, take the corrective action the scheme names, retest, and record both. Add periodic checks the scheme or manufacturer calls for, and keep the strips or reagents in date and stored dry.
What you are testing for
Sanitiser level tells you whether the water can deal with what bathers bring in. pH tells you whether the sanitiser is working and whether the water is comfortable and non-corrosive. Temperature is both a safety limit and a sign the chiller is doing its job. Some schemes add alkalinity or hardness checks at lower frequency.
How often
HSG282 and PWTAG expect a minimum of twice daily under bather load: before opening and at close. Busy rooms test mid-day as well. Test after any water change, after dosing, and whenever the water looks or smells wrong.
What to record
Values, time, tester, which bath. "In range" is not a record; the number is. When a reading fails, record the action taken and the retest. If the same failure recurs, that pattern is what tells you a chiller, filter or dosing problem is developing.
What good looks like on paper
Ninety days of readings for every bath that you could export the same day, each with a name and time, every failure paired with an action and a retest. That is what an insurer, the HSE or a customer's solicitor asks for, and what a chat thread cannot give you.

Use the test method your written scheme and manufacturer specify. Many operators use strips for routine checks and a photometer or reagent kit for confirmation; whichever you use, keep it in date and record actual values.
What do I do if the sanitiser reading is too low?
Follow the corrective action in your written scheme, keep bathers out until the retest is in range, and record the failure, the action and the retest.
