Legal and governance

Traffic lights per framework, what a signal is, checkboxes, next actions and source monitoring.

Legal lists the UK frameworks a recovery room operates under - health and safety, water and hygiene (HSG282, L8, COSHH, PWTAG), fire, electrical, equipment (PUWER), incidents, first aid, insurance, consumer law, data protection and premises licensing - and shows, per location, whether you are compliant, at risk or exposed against each one.

How a light is decided

  • Signals are live checks against your own records: water tested today, no DO NOT USE fault open, EICR in date, manufacturer services on schedule, equipment suitable for commercial use. They cost you nothing - the legal layer watches the work layer.
  • Checkboxes are things the app cannot see - a written policy, a risk assessment, an appointed person. Tick them when they are true; each records who confirmed it and when. Untick and re-confirm on review.
  • Green: every check passes. Amber: something needs attention soon - a due date approaching, a policy unconfirmed, or a record not yet set up. Red: a requirement is being breached right now.

Next actions

Every dated item due in the next 90 days, soonest first, with undated ones on top because nothing can be tracked until a date is entered. Reminders are automatic.

Source monitoring

Each framework links to its source (legislation.gov.uk, HSE, PWTAG). Once a week the sources are checked for changes; a changed page flags the framework until a super admin reviews it and clears the flag. Change notices are emailed.

Tip. "Not set up" on a certification signal means the register has no row for it at that location - open Certifications and add it. "No completion recorded yet" means the row exists but has no date.
